Cold Laser

What Is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold laser therapy or low level light laser is designed to reduce pain and inflammation in specific areas. It can be used on shoulders, hips, knees and other joints for pain and inflammation, and it may also be used in acute cases for burns and wound healing.

WHY COLD LASER THERAPY?

Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure so there is no ‘recovery time’ that you would associate with surgical procedures. Plus, many people who want to avoid taking medications turn to cold laser therapy.

There are many other benefits of cold laser therapy including:

  • Easy to apply
  • Extremely safe
  • Non-Toxic
  • Non-Invasive
  • No side effects or pain
  • Cost effective for patient
  • Highly effective in treating ailments (more than 90% efficacy)
  • Superior alternative to analgesics, NSAIDs and other medications
  • Reduces the need for surgery
  • Works synergistically with other modalities like chiropractic and physical rehab

HOW DOES COLD LASER THERAPY WORK?

The goal of cold laser therapy is to deliver light energy units from infrared laser to damaged cells. This will typically last between 30 seconds to several minutes depending on the area being treated and the dose of photons (light) administered.

Non-thermic photons pass through the dermis, epidermis, and the subcutaneous tissue or tissue fat under the skin and are absorbed by cells, stimulating the mitochondria and accelerating production of ATP. This process is comparable to the process of photosynthesis in plants.

This biochemical increase in cell energy is used to transform live cells from a state of illness to a stable, healthy state, thereby reducing inflammation and pain.
